SLYI en TU Delft bouwen slimme waterpomp in Sierra Leone

Getting water from a well is heavy and risky. The Flamingo Water Pump makes the job easier and also protects the well from evaporation and contamination.

The Sierra Leone Youth Initiative recently installed a smart pump in the village of Makonkari, and young and old alike are very pleased with it.

The pump, designed by the University of Twente, consists of simple technology, which makes it affordable and reliable. It is also easy to repair with local materials. Three students from Delft University of Technology installed the pump.

The Flamingo Water Pump is now being pilot-produced locally in Sierra Leone. This provides employment and contributes to clean drinking water, hygiene and health.
